This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students need to interact with digital media to become proficient with current technological practices. They will use digital format to record, document, and display their learning experiences. They will share their digital portfolios displayed on a class digital photo frame.
My first grade students attend an international studies public school where project based learning is the expectation.
The students are involved in sharing their projects with peers, family, friends, and community. These students need more exposure to current technology to enhance their skills in today's competitive environment.
The students will learn, record, monitor and reflect on their presentation skills with the use of digital media. They will use viewing, listening, and speaking norms to address their development of observation, bias, and presentation skills. Students will record their presentations and use the media to reflect on their delivery of style, voice, eye contact, poise, stage presence, tone, and answering of questions. The goal is to build a relationship within a group that aligns with high expectations, norms, and evaluation. Students will practice establishing rapport with an audience. The students as presenters can review their presentations and develop self-assessment and self-reflection skills. They can create a digital portfolio/scrapbook that will provide visual evidence of growth. The students can in return share their year of development on digital media with others and keep for a lifetime.
This project is building a community that says, “We’re all in this together and we’ll learn from each other.” Using a child-friendly media, students will learn to record for each other and document their educational work along a continuum of advanced technology.
