This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students come from historically marginalized communities and are learning to use visual storytelling as a way to express their identity, culture, and voice. We're building a classroom photo studio to help students create powerful, professional portraits and print them using our film printer. To make this possible, we’re requesting seamless black and white backdrops, a wall-mounted roller system, a mobile stand, and film rolls for our studio printer.

These tools will give students hands-on experience with professional photography and printing, helping them develop skills in lighting, framing, and storytelling.

The final portraits will be used for art portfolios, yearbook features, and personal projects rooted in identity and self-expression.

This project is about representation, access, and pride. It allows our students from East San José to see themselves as creators and professionals. Your support helps ensure their stories are seen, valued, and celebrated.
