My Students

My students are truly special children, who come to school daily excited to learn. I am the librarian at a historic kindergarten to fifth grade elementary school in Southern California and I am lucky to be able to see 425 of the most amazing students every week!

My students come from a variety of different households and live in many different living situations.

They enjoy coming to the library to check out books daily during recess or with their whole class once a week. The library has become the heart of our school; a warm and relaxing place to read, color, and play quiet games.

My Project

Sadly, our school library had been neglected for several years. The books are old, falling apart, and many are being held together with book tape. As the new librarian at our school, I have been giving the library the attention and care that it deserves.

As a result of this attention, the space has come to life and my student's excitement over reading has been reignited!

I would love to be able to receive new, current, fun, and exciting picture books for our picture book section of the library. It currently has very outdated books and the students just don't enjoy checking books out from this section of the library. With your help, I know we can change this!
