My Students
We were halfway through the school year when we experienced an interruption of classroom learning. My students, who are very accustomed to the routine, are still processing all of the events while desiring to continue the learning process at home. I am amazed at their resilience through such a difficult time.
The benefit of my class is that we loop each year and through this time, we have become family.
My students work hard for their teacher and themselves. They do this while being in a slightly different learning environment than their peers in the building. Despite their exceptionalities with learning, each day they do their best, and that is all that I ask.
My Project
I was unable to grab all of the items needed for distance learning to occur at home. I underestimated the duration of time that we would be away from school and found myself in need of a few office supplies. For my students, they perform best when they are given information based on their varying reading, math, and writing levels. While they have packets provided to them from our school district, they are not able to access all of the information that is presented.
I want to create meaningful activities and projects for my students, as well as see them before the end of the school year.
This project will allow me to create activities that are engaging for my students that will lessen the amount of screen time they are undertaking. I will also be able to create individual worksheets that adequately reflect their learning from the year while providing activities for the summer. The best part about the project is that I will be able to see my students when I put the information in their mailboxes. In doing so, I will be able to capture the moment by taking an appropriately distanced picture of our exchange. In order for all of this to happen, I will need paper as well as toner for my printer at home!
I am hoping to get this project funded so that I will not only be able to see my students before the end of the year, but to also provide them with meaningful materials and projects to complete. My class size is small and accomplishing this task shouldn't be too difficult. We just need a little assistance to get it done!
