Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at a Title I, ethnically diverse school in southeast Louisiana. Our students are mostly from a low socio-economic background and receive free breakfast and lunch. Hurricane Katrina has greatly affected our community.

Regardless of their home lives and background, my students walk into the classroom every morning full of life and ready for a day of learning.

My goal for my students is that each and every one of them will be a productive member of our community. They have so much to offer, each one having a unique and special story to tell. I can see their eyes light up as they are learning and soaking up new information. I'm so blessed that I can play a small part in their journey to success.

My Project

My students are in need of two camera cases for our Instax Mini 9 Polaroid cameras. These cases will allow the students to bring the cameras home safely and securely while being protected in the leather case. They will use the Polaroid film to snap pictures of their family and life at home.

Students love to share their lives at home and speak about family members, with this project they will be able to capture family life.

The students will put together a project introducing each picture with captions bringing each event to life in the classroom. The sticker borders will allow some creativity when completing this project. The batteries will be used as needed to allow the student to continue to be able to unitize the cameras.

This project is engaging and will grab the attention of all my students. Thank you for taking an interest in my students’ education.
