Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day at our morning meeting we share how we are feeling that day and why. The majority of my students say they are happy because they are in school. They want to learn and love to read!

We are a neighborhood school, and most walk to school with their parents and/or siblings.

They all receive a free breakfast and free lunch at school. They are a great group of kids that want to learn despite some of the daily hardships they may encounter.

My Project

These are picture books specially selected and recommended by Picture-Perfect STEM lessons to use as read alouds to engage students in STEM learning.

These books have illustrations, photographs, information, and engaging story lines that will help students connect to STEM learning and support them with the related exploration and activities.

The books are both fiction and non-fiction and will also be able to model and cross-reference various reading strategies and text features and structure.

Most of the STEM activities pair fiction and non-fiction books. Fiction helps to engage the students in the topic and story. The non-fiction gives them valuable information needed when they explore on their own.
