Picture Books for 3rd Graders

My Students

Our school is located in the largest city in Oregon. Like many schools in our district, our school population is very diverse, with over 25 different languages spoken and a high level of poverty. My class consists of students with mixed abilities, languages and cultural backgrounds. My students are always energetic, smart, and thoughtful third graders who are eager to learn. For many of my students, school provides safety, stability, food, and support that they don’t have at their home.

My Project

After 19 years of teaching fourth grade, I have moved to third grade and immediately realized my classroom library full of chapter books isn't going to support the needs of my younger readers.

My third graders are in need of colorful picture books to engage their curiosity for reading.

In my classroom my students each have a book box to keep books with them throughout the day and unfortunately I don't have many picture books for them to choose from. Please help support my class with some of these popular titles for our library so they can fill their book boxes. Thank you!
