My students are hardworking, deep-thinkers, who want to always learn. They come to school every day ready to learn in a new way.
At this small-town school, I love to read a picture book every afternoon to my students.
This allows the students to recenter and listen to a new book each day. I am able to teach them social-emotional skills as well as have them practice reading skills. As their teacher, I want to continue to push them in ways that they have never thought before.
My Project
This project will give me more picture books to read to my students each day. We all sit together on the rug and have a calm time to read a book. It is amazing how much sixth graders love to read!
It is one of my students' favorite part of the day as well as their teacher's.
After each book, we discuss the theme and the main idea of what happened in the book. Each book I read has a purpose in their learning. I am very intentional when I pick books of a social-emotional goal in their learning as well.
