This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Pre-K through 6th-grade students are excited to be at school learning and excited to check out books of all kinds. Our school serves a small neighborhood with many of our families being generational. As such, many of our books in the library have been loved by these same generations of students and could greatly use some refreshing.

Students of all ages love picture books, and these books open the doors to new worlds for my students.

As the Media Specialist, one of the most challenging parts of my job is finding funding to keep new books coming into our library and replacing worn-out favorites. This project would help put new books in the hands of my students and smiles on their faces.

My Project

My Picture Book Refresh project will make a difference in the lives of my students both at school and at home. Students will benefit from these books through read-aloud lessons and shared lessons during their weekly library class. They will be able to check the books out for independent reading in the classroom or to share them with their families at home.

My students love to read and learn!

This project also allows current students to discover some classic titles that we have had to purge due to age. Who doesn't love the crazy antics of a good Curious George book or the colorful illustrations by Eric Carle?
