My Students

My students are diverse, determined, and sometimes hard. I teach 5th grade at a public middle school in southern Tennessee. These kiddos come to me at varying levels, backgrounds, and situations. Discipline can be an issue, so getting to the heart of these children is paramount.

Motivation is key, and trust isn't easily attained.

However, we have worked to become the classroom family that we now are. We have a culture of growth built into our class. It grows daily. To say that I am proud of them would be an understatement.

No matter what kind of day we are having, my students are eager and determined, giving me 100% and pushing the bar. They have wills of stone because they know what it will mean to "go somewhere" with their education. I am proud of their determination and would love to level the playing field for them so that they have the same opportunities as other children and are able to compete in this 21 century world of constant change and need for innovators.

My Project

My students will use these Chromebooks on a daily basis to practice skills, to research, to inquire, to teach themselves and their classmates, and to innovate projects with more ease.

Students can film lessons that they teach themselves, plan, research, and present findings in various digital forms.

From building a story using literary elements on a storyboarding website to visiting online educational sites to learn code to create their own web pages, these tools will expand the reach of learning for my students. We will not use these Chromebooks for just a single project. They will become an integral part of out classroom family and the success we long for.
