Welcome to Westwood Elementary!! We are a small town suburb of Houston, TX where faith and family are what drives all we do. I have the pleasure of teaching first grade on the best team in the best school. As with most first grade classrooms all who enter come with a special set of strengths and needs. We strive everyday to make sure their learning environment is safe, loving, and of course rigorous. It is our goal to develop the whole child with a challenging curriculum that integrates character development in all we do.
My Project
Look around at any 6 year old and what I bet you notice is they are always moving! Some kids don't even know they are moving, that is just what they do! Actually kids are not the only ones that NEED to move. I often find myself lying on the floor , or sitting on a pillow doing my everyday jobs. I don't think anyone enjoys sitting on a hard plastic chair for most their day. I would like to provide my kiddos with a variety of seating options in hopes to create an environment that is accommodating to ALL learners.
I have been teaching for 28 years and I am SO excited to provide alternative seating for my first graders.
The wobble chair is not just a piece of furniture...it's a LIFE-Changer for active kids, kids with ADHD and Autistic kids...Aggressive wobbling on a KORE Chair increases blood to the brain and thereby quiets the requirement for fidgety kids to move this allowing students to be more productive. The Balance Chair Balls will allow my learners to move while at a table and to stay on task. The wobble cushions are very versatile. Place them on top of a chair or move them to any spot on the floor. The wobble cushion improves balance and posture, coordination and flexibility. I want to provide a 21st century classroom for these energetic learners where they are more engaged and focused and ready to learn.
