My Students

As a Title I school in Fort Meade, Maryland all of our kids receive free breakfast and a high percentage receive free or reduced-price lunch. A large portion of our students come from low income communities.

School is a place of comfort, safety, and opportunity.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and come to school excited for the day. They try their best so that they are prepared for the future.

Giving them a choice gives them a voice in how they learn.

My Project

Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed such a differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They are more engaged and get more work completed.

My students are more willing to do and try new things because they were given a choice that fits them from the moment they walk into the classroom.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options. All of the options allow students to move while learning. Asking our students to sit for hours in one place at such a young age sets them up for failure. The wobble stools will allow students to sit at higher table; the bouncy balls will allow the students to sit at a regular hight desk;and the smaller inflatable balls will allow students to be able to sit at a low desk. All of these will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to move while working.

I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
