Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are happy, energetic learners who love to learn! They are diverse in their learning and possess unique personalities that keep them going every day. They have encountered a few setbacks in their learning so far but they are slowly getting the appropriate support they require to continue learning.
My students are at-risk students with special needs who qualify for free and/or reduced lunches.
They are all reading at least one full reading level below grade level, and in some cases, more. They are lucky to have parents and a school community who support their emotional needs and with the right resources, I know they will overcome their obstacles. They are bursts of energy just waiting to blossom!
My Project
Since my students with special needs have a difficult time coping with the emotions that come with distance learning, we are using art lessons to support their emotional needs. The academic challenges have been intensified for my students with virtual learning and art lessons is helping them access content and to stay engaged.
Additionally, these art materials will create a fun and safe learning environment at home while allowing them the opportunity to express their emotions.
