Piano Lab Supplies

My Students

Musical, creative, inquisitive, energetic these are all words that describe my students. They love to sing, move, play instruments, and learn in hands-on ways. They love to use drums, Orff instruments, and ukuleles in our music room, and they love to perform.

Around 25% of our students come from military families, and this brings them their own unique set of challenges.

We have also received new students from Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria. I want to teach them a love for music that will last them their whole lives, wherever they may find themselves.

Our school, like the great majority of schools, is not immune from the misfortune of homelessness. Though our population is largely stable, we have a number of students who experience homelessness in some form during their time with us. For our students, being homeless is not something that defines them, but rather a circumstance that currently affects their lives. Enriching and exciting experiences at school can make their temporary homeless state more bearable.

My Project

As we approach the exciting opening of our piano lab, I am working on finalizing and requesting small items needed to help complete the room.

I am requesting fabric storage containers to hold games and manipulatives, silicone bracelets, and rubber rings to help students distinguish hands and finger numbers, and washi tape to help finish areas of the room in a decorative way.

I am so excited to make this new room in our school and fun, engaging, and musical space for our students. These materials will help contribute to the beauty and functionality of the space, and we appreciate all support!
