Physics of Superheros

My students need 30 copies of the book "The Physics of Superheros".

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Brower's classroom raised $577

This project is fully funded

I am an 8th grade physical science teacher. I teach a very diverse group of students.

I am trying to get students to read and enjoy non fiction books about physics. I want to expose them to avenues of information beyond a textbook. Most students dread reading any book about science. They would rather visit the dentist then sit down with a physics book.

Students in 8th grade naturally enjoy superheros. The book "The Physics of Superheros", uses superhero powers to explore physical laws. How much force would Superman's legs need to generate in order to "leap tall buildings in a single bound"? The book is divided into independent parts that can be read as a class. As I introduce a new physics concept through labs and lecture, the book readings will provide a fun and easy way to supplement.

Your help will allow my current and future students to read a book that will captivate them and help them fall in love with a subject that I have enjoyed a lifelong love affair with.
