Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
While my 6th grade students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds, they come together through their shared perseverance and undeniable work ethic to learn and grow to be the future of tomorrow.
Despite their low socioeconomic status, their dreams to be future innovators, engineers, writers, and scientists do not diminish.
My students are eager and motivated to maximize their education but, at times, can be held back due to our lack of funds for extracurricular activities and projects. Their interest in the arts, computer science, and physical education should be fostered and encouraged!
My Project
These materials will expose students to all types of team sports as well as help them develop an innate drive to be lifelong athletes. From ballet to field hockey, this class will try it all. Students can play anything on concrete!
My student's favorite game is kickball, and one of the biggest reasons for many of their disagreements is discussion over whether a player should be considered out or not.
With the set of bases and student-friendly sized balls, it will be easier for students to determine points and help gain independence.
One of the most memorable student experiences over the past few years was our Annual Bubble Meet n Greet. During this time, students use the parachute to create a bubble to sit within. Students share their name and their favorite color. Since our parachute ripped after several years of usage, our class is in need of a replacement.
