My students are from various backgrounds simply because we live next to a military installation.Students come and go on a yearly basis and truly enjoy being physically active. Consequently allowing me a shorter amount of time to make an impact in their lives. Creating positive memories also help reinforce materials being taught and learned in the classroom. Hurricane Florence impacted my students families in profound ways. Loses from Florence run the gamut from minor material loses to homelessness.
As students the earlier we learn and understand healthy habits, plus teamwork, the better off we will be in the future.
Students at this level love to exercise and learn. The passion they possess now is part of the formula for life long success.
My Project
Disc golf is a great way to stay active regardless of age. As we get older it is harder and harder to join a sports team or gather enough people to play a game. This sport allows individuals or groups of people to play at the same time. It provides someone a chance to be outside and connect with nature. Disc golf provides upper and lower body conditioning, aerobic exercise and promotes a combination of physical and mental abilities. With the nation having a health problem of being sedentary, it is more important now then ever to get out and move.
The more activities that are available to us the more likely we are to participate in them.
Disc golf is free to the public and courses can be found all over the surrounding area. If students are exposed to the sport early on and are taught how to play with proper technique the benefits are substantial. Such as, lower risk for health problems, better mood and overall a better feeling throughout life when you are active and connecting with nature. Disc golf is a great way to stay active and have fun!
