Last hour of the day, and it's time for 7th and 8th-grade girl's health class. The only space available is the cafeteria with a hard concrete floor. The girls exercise 2 to 3 days a week. My goal is to introduce lifelong physical fitness.
The 7th and 8th grade Health and PE class is the last hour of the day.
There are 28 girls in this class and sometimes more. They have a positive attitude about learning and they are motivated participants when it comes to physical exercise. However, when certain exercises are requested of them, the hard floors become an issue.
My Project
The cafeteria may provide us with a good location for PE, but the hard concrete floors can limit the activities performed. Therefore, exercise mats have been requested. The mats will be used during station drills and minute drills. The mats will provide a personal cushioned area to perform different stretches and exercises. The mats will also help with bone and joint discomfort. Not only will the mats benefit this class, but other classes will be able to use the mats for various activities as well.
The mats will help in a variety of ways.
The girls will be so excited which will improve their attitude and will increase their participation. We will be able to do more stretches and ground work if the girls feel they have a protected personal space. And of course, the mats will help decrease bone and joint discomfort. So, the mats will benefit this class mentally and physically.
