My Students

I work at a charter school in North Salt Lake teaching physical education, health, and yearbook. A lot of our students through no fault of their own suffer from behavior and learning disorders under many different diagnoses. Despite that, they try very hard to improve their station in life and to learn coping skills that will allow them to adapt to society as best as they possibly can. They are very unique. They are also, for the most part, caring and loving individuals.

My Project

The racket sets, cornhole bean bag toys, and foam baseballs are the start of a plan to help my students overcome the fears that they have of being hurt by the equipment that we are playing with in PE class. My students are still learning basic skills; in order to progress towards standards, they need to not be afraid of the equipment. This equipment will also be used by our elementary school students in our building as they learn physical activity skills that they haven't learned before. Help me give my students this opportunity to learn these live long skills. Some of these skills are learning how to throw using a foam ball and bean bags. It will also let us have enough badminton rackets for everyone to play.
