My Project

Many of my ELA students find they love to read but hate reading on their Chromebooks! Help me provide a partial classroom set of a timeless novel.

My 10th grade students love the book "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes because it touches on relevant and current themes that speak to them such as the meaning of intelligence, mental illness, empathy, and broken families.

The love of reading correlates to higher test scores and overall increased academic achievement, but in the age of technology and social media (and especially post-pandemic), students have a hard time reading books, specifically in a digital format. Many of my students prefer reading physical copies of books because the era of scrolling has limited their reading stamina.

Your donation would help move most of my students off their Chromebooks and into the pages of a physical copy of this wonderful book.
