The students in my class all have severe and profound mental disabilities. They come from a very poor area of town.
I began teaching this class in October. The students are all nonverbal, and may are blind, deaf, or both. I found that the students who can see really enjoy looking at pictures of themselves or looking in a mirror. It even makes many of them smile. I have a digital camera that was given to the class, but we do not have any ink for the photo printer. We have very limited funding for class supplies, and most of that money needs to be spent on diapers, wipes, and other personal hygiene items.
We are in need of ink cartridges and photo paper for our Kodak Easy Share photo printer. With these supplies I can make photo books, a photo board, and other craft projects with pictures of the students.
Your help will ensure that my students can experience the simple pleasure of looking at themselves doing activities they enjoy, and be able to look back at the experiences they have had in the classroom and the community.
