This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students at Fullerton High School learn to find their passion and their voice through the exploration of photography. After spending the last two years that students are loving being back in school, hands on with their projects. Having the largest program on campus we get a wide variety of students and personalities; from our foundation photography classes to the AP Advanced photography classes. As the students move from one class to the next it is a pleasure to see their passion for photography grow as well as their identity as an artist - their voice.

Our students build strong and supportive relationships with their peers, they assist each other while photographing, printing in the darkroom, digitally editing, or showing up for their gallery shows.

The students built a culture in the classroom that empowers them feel comfortable to explore and create their best work possible.

My Project

We have over 10 photography classes that all share equipment and sometimes there just isn't enough to go around. Having more of these resources will help our students to have greater access to photo reflectors and card readers will support students in their learning.

Students being hands on and in control of their message is the goal when they make their photographs requires a certain amount of equipment.

The photo reflectors will exposure students to lighting techniques, especially when students work on their portraits, and it will and it will allow them to work with an assistant.

Our card readers are used toward the end of the period when students return to upload their photos, and since we have change the types of Chromebooks used (some USB 2.0 and some USB-C) we have noticed a bottleneck in uploads and have had to require they return earlier in the period. Thus card readers will allow students to use class time more efficiently.
