My students need a camera to be photographed doing quality work to encourage and inspire themselves and others to maintain good practices in both math and science.

My Students
Have you ever been 'caught' doing something good? Students light up when they see the pictures on display that were taken while they were doing quality work in the math/science lab.
I am the math/science specialist in a K-4 elementary school in CT.
I have a lab setting with 9 animals that the students help to care for. Every class comes to the lab for a science lesson at least once per month to complement their classroom lessons. I try to do the lessons that are the most messy and hands-on so the regular classroom teachers don't have to scurry around to get materials and set them up. I find that taking pictures of the students as they are working on an experiment, caring for an animal, or demonstrating a new found discovery generates great enthusiasm. This enthusiasm translates into a love of science.
My Project
The digital camera that I'm requesting would replace one that I purchased about 10 years ago from school funds and is no longer working. So, now I am bringing my personal camera from home. I am hopeful to use a school camera again that stays in the science lab.
Having a camera in the science lab would allow for pictures at a moments notice ~ catching quality work and developing enthusiasm for science.
Students at every grade level light up when I take their pictures and are anxious to show their parents.
