My Project

Our students arrive to school daily to immerse themselves in a safe and challenging learning community. Most of my students come from low-income families who receive a free breakfast and lunch daily. Every learner has a unique view of the world.

Our school offers students the opportunity to engage in enrichment activities after school.

In the first session of Photo Fun, students not only learned how to view typical everyday objects both animate and inanimate in a fun and engaging way, but also how to use different editing features to alter the image.

The sense of wonder and excitement on their faces demonstrated the joy they received from this experience especially after seeing the fruits of their labor printed in an 8x10 format, which they took home.

This was all done using iPads. I hope to enhance their learning in session 2 by using digital cameras instead, which will provide students with the opportunity to experiment with additional photographic features.

By continuing to challenge students this year and then in the future to see the world through a photographer’s eye, I hope to help students gain confidence, to inspire them to learn more and see themselves differently outside of the academic world.
