This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very unique, hard working, and inspiring. My students love to read, learn new things, and they love to get up and get moving. They are all very sweet, caring, and eager to learn new things. Some students have not had educational exposure, and this is their first experience in a classroom. Many of them receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.
My Project
These headphones will improve my classroom by allowing each student to listen to their ebooks/reading websites and not be distracted by classroom noise. This will help them stay focused on the activity and build stamina.
The sensory dough will help my students learn their capital and lowercase letters and use their fine motor skills at the same time to build the letters with the sensory dough.
The letter tracing boards would benefit my students as well, by giving them additional sensory practice by using their fingers to write the matching capital/lowercase letters.
These phonics activities will greatly impact my students so that they can learn their letters and sounds, so they can start to become great readers!
