Some of my sixth graders are sadly deficient in basic phonics skills. Due to Covid, many of them missed essential instruction in basic reading skills. Now, they are falling further behind their peers which causes them to feel unintelligent and unsuccessful. Additionally, we have many multi-lingual learners who need to learn sound-letter associations as they acquire English.
We have a wonderful intervention program, but we need manipulatives to help students catch up their reading skills.
The letters and games in this project will give my students hands-on learning experience and help them conquer phonics! Then they will be able to decode and access the texts they are given to learn grade-level skills.
