My Project
Teaching phonics is such an important aspect of an early literacy program. This is especially true for ELLs. For newcomers that have a background other than English, phonics success is crucial for independent reading and writing. My students vary in their phonics abilities and skills across grades k-2. All my ESL students can benefit from this tools to support their reading, writing, and speaking skills.
With these materials my students will be able to use graphic organizers and journals to focus on specific phonics skills across all content areas.
My kindergarten students will be ale to use the pocket chart as a reference to focus on specific letters of the week. My first and second grade students will be able to use the graphic organizers, vocabulary journals, and phonics and decoding kit, to brainstorm ideas on specific topics and review critical phonics skills necessary for writing. independently.
