Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade at a charter school in a high-need, economically disadvantaged community.
My first graders are learning how to read, and are using their phonemic awareness to construct and decode words. At this age reading is an adventure, with so many wonderful stories the kids can't wait to learn new words and sounds so they can delve into books.
These letter tiles will help support young learn their sounds, and use the strategies they learn in class to construct and read words. These tiles will provide visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning to meet the needs of my diverse students.
With your donation you will help bring literacy to a classroom of very diverse students. Who knows we may have the next Ray Bradbury, or Sylvia Plath in our class. Help make literacy possible, even to those who may be at a disadvantage.
