My Project
I’m excited to introduce a valuable resource for my first-grade classroom: the “Learn to Read in Weeks Master 220 High-Frequency Dolch Sight Words Curriculum-Appropriate Reading Game for Pre-K to Grade 3 - Popping Mats & Dice.” This game is fantastic because it spans reading levels from pre-K through 3rd grade, making it perfect for my diverse group of students. At College Gate Elementary, my 1st graders are a diverse and vibrant group, representing backgrounds such as Alaska Native, Hmong, Samoan, Pacific Islander, Caucasian, African American, and Latino. Their diversity, combined with their eagerness to learn, enriches our classroom environment.
This game provides a fun and engaging way for students to practice sight words, which are crucial for reading development.
The popping mats and dice add a playful element that encourages participation and reinforces learning. Since my classroom includes students with varying reading abilities, this game’s inclusive design ensures that each student can work at their own level and gradually build confidence and skills. The ability to adjust the difficulty based on individual needs means that all students, regardless of their starting point, can benefit and make progress.
My goals for this project are to enhance reading instruction in my classroom by providing a resource that caters to all students, regardless of their current reading level. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. I hope to foster a love of reading, improve sight word recognition, and provide a fun, interactive way for students to practice and master essential reading skills.
