I need the UFLI foundations manual and Heggerty primary curriculum to boost my students phonemic awareness and phonics skills to help them become life long long readers.
UFLI Foundations and Heggerty are explicit and systematic programs that teach students the foundational "code", the phonics and phonemic awareness skills necessary to become proficient readers. The UFLI program follows a carefully developed scope and sequence using explicit instruction, decodable passages, and games. It uses controlled texts so that students are able to have ample time to practice reading using phonics skills they have learned. I would also like to use the Heggerty decodables to help studdents flex their reading muscles after they learn new concepts.
UFLI and Heggerty will help me use my Orton Gillingham training to explicitly teach the phonics and phonemic awareness skills my students need.
Many of my students have memorized lots of words, but need help segmenting words and reading longer multisyllabic words. I know using Heggerty and UFLI will increase my students' confidence and make them more skilled readers.
