I work mainly with 3rd-6th grade special education students. Throughout the year, I will work with about 35-45 students. My students have learning disabilities, autism, health challenges, and more. COVID-19 has impacted my students reading the most. Some students have fallen two or more grade levels behind in reading.
With this project, I am requesting reading materials and passages to help my students with essential reading skills.
These stories and tools help target specific phonics skills so students learn to recognize them in their reading. Learning phonics will help my students decode and become fluent readers. There are also passages that have reading comprehension questions as well to help target their comprehension along with their fluency.

My Project
My students have so many things to know in order to read successfully. They are often two or three grade levels behind in their fluency and comprehension. They need to learn multiple skills in order to read fluently. Their comprehension is also lower because they struggle with reading and paying attention to what they are reading.
These materials will help my students learn and retain essential phonic skills in order for them to read fluently.
My students deserve to feel confident in their reading ability and be given the chance to read.
