Phonics for Kindergarten

My Students

I teach Kindergarten in the Lakewood community, and my students are adventurous. They are determined and eager to succeed in life. They are full of passion and enthusiasm; they want to learn.

Kindergarten is such an exciting and adventurous grade level!

I have 22 awesome and unique students. I love working with 5 and 6 year old. My students are vibrant and excited about learning. It gives me great joy to wake up every morning and go in my classroom and stir their pure minds. My class consists of students who are from different economic backgrounds. Nevertheless, we strive for perfection and try to learn something new every day. I am proud to say in my classroom, we try to make every day count.

My Project

One of my primary goals is to enhance my students learning through hands-on activities. Yes, at a very young age, I am teaching my students how to take ownership of their learning. In my classroom, I teach my students that it is okay to make a mistake, but the important thing is never to quit or give up. Therefore, the phonic activities will provide my students an opportunity to work in small groups independently. But, if they make a mistake, they know that it is okay to try again until they succeed.

The hands-on phonics activities will allow my students to practice those foundational skills they need to master print, phonological awareness, and word recognition.

I like to incorporate rhyming and sounds (beginning, medial, end) activities in almost every lesson I teach to keep the students engaged and eager to learn.
