This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school where the students are eager to learn each and everyday! They come to school with smiles on their faces ready to face the day. Each student gets an opportunity to be the leader in the classroom and show how they can be a citizen in and out of the classroom. This year will have its own different set of challenges with starting off the year virtually learning. But I know my students will work as hard as ever!
My Project
I have just finished a week long training all about phonics and I am SO excited to start utilizing what I learned during this training with my students. These items will individually reach each one of my students, even at home! They will be able to manipulate letters and sounds with their own personal phonics folder. Learning how to read in general is a tough concept, learning how to read through a computer/iPad is even tougher, but if students have their own phonics folder, they will have everything they would have in the classroom to become successful readers! The goal of using these phonics folders are for students to be able to use a hands-on concept when learning about letters and sounds. They will then be able to use what they learned to manipulate letters/sounds into words and eventually sentences; and in the end, this will help them become better readers.
