Help me give my students and their families a Night of Literacy to remember! These items will help facilitate our first-ever (Bi)Literacy Night for Kindergarten and First-Grade families this September.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Learning to read is a basic civil right for all scholars in our classrooms. Inviting families to learn alongside their readers will facilitate a home-to-school connection that supports the academic success of all students. These items will be used for make-and-take learning centers, snacks, and a bilingual book for each family to take home at the end of the evening.
Is there anything better than seeing a child's eyes light up as they learn to read?
The kindergarten and first-grade readers and future readers come to us each day excited to unlock the code of reading in English. Our biliteracy program enhances this engagement by promoting a love of reading in both Spanish and English.
The impact of family involvement and support for our students cannot be understated. Coordinating a night of learning about our phonics program, enjoying a snack or two, and playing phonics games together will start building our community of readers early in the school year.
With your help, we can create a memorable night of phonics fun for our curious future readers!
