My Students
Can you imagine walking into a big, bright, beautiful kindergarten classroom on the first day of school and imagining all the possibilities for the year to come? That's what my students and I do every day. Outwardly, my classroom provides the safety, comfort and ideal setting for student learning!
Beyond our beautiful classrooms, the issues turn up.
Our school, still displaced in a temporary location following Hurricane Katrina, was never able to replace the materials we lost in the storm. The students entering my classroom never knew what school was like before August 29, 2005. The students coming in now enter with open minds and possibilities of the dreams they have of coming to school. They are eager and willing to learn. Their parents are engaged and want to be a part of their learning experience. I, as their teacher, want to provide them with the most effective, engaging, memorable kindergarten experience that I can! Unfortunately, my school district and I cannot do it alone. With budgeting downfalls, our children do not have the materials they need to be successful. That's where you come in!
My Project
Thanks to the generosity of others, my students have a listening center in our classroom with headphones that enables them to listen and learn! Unfortunately, though, we don't have anything new to listen to. For the past few years I've used Rock & Learn to teach my children specific skills at the listening center. Well, that isn't working anymore, and we need help!
The Listen & Learn Phonics kit we are requesting will give my students interactive learning that would have them listening and writing. By using these skills together my students are sure to learn something new, fun, and exciting! They would be so energized and engaged at the listening center each and every day! Phonics is such an important early intervention skill! Without these foundational skills it is very difficult to teach students to read. These tools could put us even closer to our ultimate goal!
