The elementary is the last addition of our K-12 dream. It has been years in the making and we are proud to finally accomplish this journey.
My classroom consists of 24 happy and hard working Kindergartners who come from different backgrounds and cultures.
We are fortunate enough to have a wonderful community with supportive parents who want the best for their child and school. We are a Title I school where some of our students qualify for free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch. We have many English Language Learners. These are students who are learning to speak English or English is their second language.
My Project
Being able to read is such a big accomplishment for children. But reading doesn't come easy for some of them. As a teacher, I'm constantly researching ways to help those struggling kids. When I come upon new strategies, I am willing to try it out in hopes of getting those students who are struggling to learn their letters, sounds, phonemic awareness and eventually begin to read.
When students struggle in reading in the lower grades, it will take a lot of time to catch them up in the upper grades.
That's why intervention in the primary grades is so crucial. So, I would love to try the Learning Dynamics Reading System with my kindergartners and see if it'll help those students who are not getting it through our regular reading program.
