This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kinder students come from low-income families.
My students this year are a combination of English and Spanish speakers.
Some of my students have never been to school, and this is their first time having a teacher, classmates and experiencing what learning in school is like.
My students are energetic, inquisitive and hard working. They enjoy participating in fun lessons and love to sing songs.
My Project
Help give my students a phonemic awareness program and writing materials from Handwriting without Tears.
The phonemic awareness program by Heggerty will help my students practice letter sounds, letter names, blending, compound words, rhymes, identifying beginning sounds and much more.
The handwriting without tears materials will help my students become writers by teaching them letter formation in a fun way.
I want to implement these programs in my classroom to help my students be successful in reaching their goal of reading at a D level by the end of kindergarten.
