This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My middle school students are a loving group. They want to feel at home and safe at school. Classroom pets can not only be used as an amazing teaching tool, but can also increase a child's feeling of belonging in a space. Last year in my class we researched and voted on which type of pet we should have in our room. I have recently adopted two guinea pigs to surprise my returning students this school year. These pets will provide an opportunity for all of my children to contribute, love, learn, and grow socially and academically in meaningful ways.

My students will work together to care for and maintain the guinea pigs' habitat.

These items will help keep that space clean and healthy. This project will support a healthy and loving environment for our pigs and my students.
