PES Sensory Garden

Help me give my students a sensory garden. We would like to have a raised bed stand for herbs, a heater for the greenhouse, hanging grow bags, wind chimes, birdhouses, garden markers, insect houses, and tomato/bean cages.

My Project

All students at PES will learn what a sensory garden is and experience the benefits from it. They would learn how to grow and take care of plants like beans, tomatoes, strawberries, vegetables, flowers and an array of herbs. They will work collaboratively on the projects like building houses for insects, making garden flags that promote outdoor learning, and building birdhouses and wind chimes. With the greenhouse heater, they will learn how a greenhouse works and be able to grow plants year-round. The students will also research the plants in the garden and make labels for them. Lastly, students can explore, read, and calm down in the sensory garden that engages all of their senses. The wind chimes, each made from different materials, will offer a variety of peaceful sounds. The herb garden, fruits and vegetables will offer many tasting opportunities. The birdhouses will provide a safe place for birds, which will attract more birds and in return offer more sounds. The insect houses will attract a variety of insects for students to observe. The windmills, windsocks, birds and insects will provide plenty of visual stimulation. When the students are learning in the garden, they learning through hands-on activities.

All students can benefit from outdoor learning!
