This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, students with autism, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from low and middle-class families.

At my school, we believe in "no excuses!" My students know that wherever they come from has little bearing on where they're going.

It is up to them and the choices they make to help them succeed. We have high academic and behavior expectations, and the students rise to meet the challenges set before them.

My Project

As part of the guidelines for returning to in-person learning this year, our students have been asked to bring their own water bottles to school. Although this is a great idea, not only to mitigate the spread of COVID but also to reduce plastic waste, it has also caused the issue of many lost water bottles and classroom clutter. I would like to use a Cricut machine to personalize each student's water bottle so fewer will end up lost. Having their names on their water bottles will help our classroom stay organized. I plan on using this machine for years to come so it will have an impact on hundreds of students.

Students need sufficient water to help them learn and water bottles with their names on them will encourage them to hydrate, as well as create a sense of belonging and community.
