Personalized Learning With the Help of Chromebooks

Help me give my students additional Chromebooks. This will allow me to provide each student a personalized learning experience with online tools, options on how to demonstrate their learning, while sharing their accomplishments with parents almost instantaneously!

My Students

With our school free/reduced lunch rate hovering around 60%, many of my students come from families who struggle just to make ends meet. They are not able to afford nor provide some of the luxuries others may take for granted, such as household computers, a quiet space where kids can sit to complete school work, or even provide 3 square meals daily. That is why it is so important to me to try to provide these items and more while these kids are at school.

My students' educations are not cookie-cutter; each child deserves a personalized learning experience, where they can progress at their own pace, and learn through means tailored to him/her.

Our 3rd-grade classroom is buzzing with different activities going on at once. Students may be working in a small group, utilizing technology to enhance their learning, or using hands-on activities to gain a better understanding of the topic they are working on.

As time goes on, it is becoming increasingly important for students to have access to, and opportunities to utilize technology. Furthermore, we as teachers are needing to rely more on technology, as our classroom numbers grow and the need to vary our instruction increases.

My Project

Personalized learning is an effort to customize the learning experience based on a student's strengths, needs, skills and interests. This means the educator needs to be able to provide a selection of activities at various levels and ways for students to show what they have learned.

Adding additional Chromebooks to our classroom will help us utilize various online apps and programs (such as Google Classroom) that will make learning more enjoyable, allow lessons and activities to be adapted for individual student needs, and offer the opportunity for students to share their daily school experience instantaneously, while greatly reducing our paper usage.

Students will be able to have choice and voice in their education to make their learning more meaningful.
