Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My scholars are joyful and resilient fourth graders who overcame the gaps of knowledge of technology and typing during a historical time in a high-needs area. We all have not seen each other since March, I can honestly say this is the longest amount of time I have gone without seeing my students. Although we met live and communicated daily it was a tearful goodbye in June. However, the new year brings us the hope of change and safety.
I am truly excited about my rising fourth grade class because I had taught them when they were in kindergarten; now I am honored to see them grow and partake in this historic, blended learning fourth grade year!
Big smiles and waves await us in September. In my class we are always a family and a team. We work together to build each other up and thrive in our community and the world!
My Project
The materials will be used to give students bright colored, personal math tools the students can use in school and take home to work remotely. The scholars cannot share any materials due to the pandemic, although we are opening for blended learning; the scholars need their own manipulatives to fully grasp the lessons. The students are sweet kids who need their own tools to learn and not worry about spreading anything.
The goal is to give the students engaging books and hands-on materials they can learn and practice with anywhere.
The teacherspayteachers gift card will be used to buy differentiated, digital learning tools and activities for the students who are learning from home. As well as, to help fill in and learning gaps that may have occurred during the quarantine. The books correlate with the Native American unit and captures the scholars attention. Some of the scholars did not have access to diverse books over the break and would love characters they can relate to.
The pouches will be given to each scholar so they can comfortably carry their own; books, rulers, protractors, fractions, and pencils. Many of my students do not have these materials at home and have difficulty attaining them. With this project each child will have their own books, differentiated digital work and math tools!
