My Project

I have been studying whole novels with my 6th-grade students for the last few years. I have been intentional in surrounding my students with novels from different authors, male and female, as well as authors of different races and cultures.

My students and I love our novel studies, but I am seeking the opportunity to provide them with their own personal copies of the novels.

Highlighting and making annotations can increase reading skills such as comprehension, inferencing, fluency, vocabulary usage, etc. Having individual novels would also build soft skills -- accountability, ownership, and responsibility.
