I have the privilege of teaching 20 wonderful, hard working kindergarten students! On the first day of school, we talked about this great big word, perseverance. My students know that it means to never give up and keep trying no matter how hard it might be. Together we experienced different challenges where we had to persevere as a class and made a promise to each other that we would have perseverance and work through any challenges that kindergarten might throw at us.
Each day, my students are displaying perseverance as they face challenges whether it's a math problem, writing in their journal or just solving a problem with friends.
I absolutely love the way these kiddos have grit and I'm so blessed to be their teacher' My students love to learn and use hands on materials. We are in a small school in rural Iowa. I want to ensure that my students have the same opportunities as schools in bigger districts.
My Project
This is my first year starting out with morning STEM tubs and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner! Morning STEM tubs are a wonderful way to engage and "wake up" those little brains each morning. Students are always excited to come in and see the different choices that are set out for the day.
These tubs allow my students to socialize and collaborate as they explore, create, problem solve, and think outside the box.
I am a firm believer in learning through play and I can see how these STEM tubs have had a positive impact on our classroom community and help develop problem solving and perseverance.
This project will give me more materials to create different tubs that will engage my little learners.
