My Students

My students include 7th graders whose families have chosen to attend a charter school focusing on arts and personalized learning. They come from all around the southern areas of San Diego County.

I love knowing that I'm building the next generation of artists, performers, and thinkers.

I want to be able to provide them each with the environment and resources that they need to grow and thrive.

There are so many students that can be truly engaged in their learning thanks to arts integration. Some of my students are wonderfully talented at fine arts, dance, or music, and some of them are just beginning to cultivate an interest. My goal is to help each of them reach their fullest potential by constantly integrating art into their learning.

My 7th-grade class is a self-contained classroom. I teach math, science, history, and English, but I am also the supervisor for our Board Games & RPG Club as well as Student Council.

My Project

We are going to use these permanent markers to replenish our Maker Space art area. I try to keep a good variety of art supplies available, and we ran out of permanent markers during first semester.

We use sharpies to color paper art projects for every subject, as well as to do fabric, craft and cardboard projects.

We're an arts-integrated school so we do creative projects essentially every single day. I am also planning on teaching a comics & manga elective in the upcoming semester in which students will write and create their own graphic novels, so these permanent markers will be used to build those.
