My Project

Being a counselor, you hear a lot of student talk about anxiety, trauma, and not belonging or trying to find themselves. The books to use in discussion with the students will be helpful for students to see that others have gone through the same issues as themselves.

Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, education, and adequate sanitation facilities, often due to economic constraints.

It is a social issue that disproportionately affects individuals who face financial challenges, particularly women and girls in low-income communities.

The term encompasses the multifaceted challenges related to menstruation, extending beyond the mere affordability of sanitary products to include broader systemic issues.

Students who cannot afford menstrual products may face disruptions in their education, as they may miss school during their menstruation or struggle to concentrate due to the lack of proper hygiene resources. Addressing period poverty requires a comprehensive approach that combines economic, educational, and social initiatives to ensure equitable access to menstrual hygiene resources for all individuals.

More than half of the students are from low‑income households.
