Help me give my students books about Performing Arts, Theatre, Production, and Technical Theatre. The books in the cart will allow students to dive into all aspects of Performing Arts: music, acting, technical theatre, costuming, and more!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are 3rd and 4th graders that come to my classroom for Performing Arts. PA is a specials block that students receive on average 3 times a week.
Performing Arts gives my students an opportunity to share their voice and tell the story of who they are.
Our content focuses on developing students ability to speak with pride, show confidence in themselves and support higher self-esteem.
Throughout the school year, students perform in 5 shows that celebrate history, heritage, and culture. Students end the year by showcasing their skills in a full-length musical production.
My Project
This library will allow us to bring literacy into our Performing Arts classroom. Giving students an opportunity to pair their learning in the classroom and their literacy skills with the content of Performing Arts will give students a more well-rounded educational experience.
The books in this library will give students greater knowledge around theatre and how it can be applied to other subjects in their school day.
Providing opportunities for arts integration in literacy and math will give students higher appreciation for a well-rounded education. While we are preparing for performances, students will have an opportunity to get on their feet to learn choreography and song lyrics. Having a Performing Arts Library will support learners of all types to engage with the content.
