My students are young, bold, learners who I not only teach, but learn from. They aspire to be educated in the arts but have been let down year after year, not having a consistent teacher. I started this year and have encouraged them to perform in just a matter of weeks. Their attitudes have changed for the better and want to continue their training. They don't have resources to access the internet and search for monologues and research musicals. They are eager to learn and perform, but don't have the tools to get them there. My goal is to be able to provide them with technology and equipment that will help them reach their full potential.
The iPad and case will help my students build an online portfolio for their performances. They will be able to perform their monologues, skits, and scenes and upload it to their online portfolio. The portfolio will display and share the growth for the year.
Sometimes you need to see yourself in a video to understand what needs work.
These students need to be able to see themselves to reflect on their performance and understand what needs to be changed. Many times we don't see it for ourselves and need to see a playback. That is how students learn best, by self-reflecting.
