Perfect Time to Show That Kindness ROCKS

Help me give my students paint pens, rocks, brushes and labels to create kindness rocks for our community!

My Students

My students are awesome! I have an extremely diverse population of students. I teach Art 1 and have about one hundred and fifty students total.

What makes my school unique is the international students; students coming to the United States from foreign countries and living in Cincinnati are enrolled at my school.

My students are from many different areas of the world including Nepal, Guatemala and Africa just to name a few. Students work hard every day learning to speak English and adapt to their new environment. They love culture and art, and I love letting them experience it in my art room.

My Project

My students have been on remote and blended learning this school year. Two years ago in the spring, we worked together on a very meaningful and hands on project that truly made an impact! We created kindness rock with labels connected to an Instagram account that people around the community could find. My students loved being engaged in the community and being the spreaders of kindness understanding the impact and hoping for others to pay it forward! Many people are dealing with uncertain times that bring on social emotional stress....I can't think of a better way to lift our spirits and connect with our community then making kindness rocks and scattering them throughout our city. Intertwining visual arts, community service and social emotional well-being, we will create designs and messages on rocks to spread cheer in a time when it is much needed! We will use the paint markers, paints and brushes to design the rocks. We will use the labels to display the Instagram handle connected to this project! This group community based project is the perfect thing to start the healing of our selves and spread the love to our community.
