My Project

It's no secret that that in order to be successful on a musical instrument you must practice. For some students practicing at home can be challenging due to the environment or family situation they live in. This project is intended to assist those students who live in more challenging situations.

The practice mutes I am requesting allow a student to practice in any environment without disrupting those around them.

They significantly reduce the instrument volume allowing for practice in apartments that have noise ordinances, or households that have non-standard working hours that require silence during a student's typical day.

Another benefit of the practice mutes is the increased air resistance. This resistance requires the student to move their air faster which will significantly improve their tone quality when removing the mute.

Our goal is to have a set of mutes that students can check out for home practice. We would also use the mutes in class to improve airspeed and blowing through resistance. The end result is a more full, mature tone, that will benefit everyone in the ensemble.

Having access to practice mutes will significantly increase the chances of success for students who do not live in single-family homes or have unique family schedules.

Mr. Wolf will only receive his materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
